Magnolia Bloom is a pair of hand-thrown stoneware sculptures that read as a single magnolia flower captured in two moments. Open Bloom is a wide. outward-curling petal piece. Closed Bud is taller and inward-folding. like the moment before opening. Both are finished in matte off-white with ochre patina rubbed into the recesses by hand — the texture of unearthed antique pottery. but new.

Available in two sizes each. designed to anchor a console table. a coffee table vignette. or a mantel arrangement. Pair Open Bloom and Closed Bud together for a layered tablescape. or use one as a standalone object on a bookshelf or entry console.

Hand-Thrown Stoneware

Each piece is shaped on the wheel and finished by hand. No two are identical — slight asymmetries are inherent to the craft.

Hand-Rubbed Patina

Ochre wash is brushed into the surface and rubbed back. leaving the look of weathered antique pottery on raw stoneware.

Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Hand-throwing produces subtle variation in petal curl. surface texture. and patina depth between pieces. Tonal blooms and small kiln marks are part of the firing process — they signal craft. not damage.

Which form and size should I choose?

If you'll see the piece from above (coffee table. low console). Open Bloom showcases its petal curl best. For eye-level surfaces (mantel. shelf. entry console). Closed Bud's vertical form reads more clearly. The L sizes work as standalone focal pieces; the S sizes shine in groupings of two or three.

Can I put flowers or water in it?

No — Magnolia Bloom is a sculptural object. not a functional vase. The interior is unglazed and unsealed. so water will seep through the stoneware and damage the patina. For dried botanicals or pampas grass. both forms accept stems through the top opening.

Why does mine look slightly different from the photos?

Each piece is hand-thrown and individually finished. Petal curl. patina depth. and surface texture vary between pieces — that's the nature of handmade ceramic. The photos show a representative example. not the exact piece you'll receive.

How do I clean it?

Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth or a soft-bristle brush for dust trapped in the petal recesses. Avoid water. alcohol. and chemical cleaners — they can dissolve the hand-rubbed patina over time. Don't put it in a dishwasher.

Can I use it outdoors?

No. Magnolia Bloom is finished for indoor display only. The patina is hand-rubbed and uncoated. so rain. snow. and freezing temperatures will erode it quickly. For sheltered patios or covered porches. occasional brief exposure is fine — direct weather is not.
